Revolutionizing Jewelry Design: Ting G's "Joint"

Unveiling the Unique Inspiration and Execution of the Award-Winning Jewelry Set

Renowned designer Ting G presents "Joint", a jewelry set that redefines the concept of connection. Inspired by DNA and the structure of bearings, this design has won the prestigious Platinum A' Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Award in 2016.

The concept of connection has always been a theme for Ting G. Transforming this theme into jewelry required a unique structure. The shape of DNA, representing genetics, life, and individuality, and the structure of bearings, offered an innovative way of connection. This inspiration led to the creation of "Joint", a jewelry set that connects beads in a new and extraordinary way, without any puncture, chain, or glue, only by surroundings.

The unique properties of "Joint" lie in its innovative way of connecting beads. The design is realized using recombinant silver metal elements, which are made harder and more tenacious to hold the stones without altering the design's shape. The natural pink stone combined with a white drop-shaped zircon adds a touch of life and energy to the design.

The technical specifications of "Joint" include stone beads of 14mm and 10mm, metal parts measuring 22mm x 16.5mm x 17.5mm, and necklace and bracelet lengths of 18 inches and 8 inches respectively. The design is assembled based on two different parts, with the most challenging technique being how to claw the stone without using glue, pin, or string, only covering it with a metal claw with a drop-shaped crystal.

The design project started in April 2015 and was completed in July 2015 in Guangzhou, China. It was exhibited in Guangzhou, Macao, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong. The underlying research for this design was based on the theme of connection, which Ting G had been working on for a long time. The idea for the design came to Ting G during a moment of prayer, which she took as a sign from God to create it.

Creating "Joint" posed several challenges, including finding the precise size to hold the stone without completely covering it and ensuring the beads could move easily yet remain steady. All the natural stones used were handmade, as there were no stones without holes available in the market. Despite these challenges, Ting G successfully created a jewelry set that not only looks beautiful but also features an interesting structure.

In conclusion, "Joint" is a testament to Ting G's innovative approach to jewelry design. Inspired by the structure of DNA and bearings, the design represents a new way of connecting beads, without the use of traditional methods like chains or glue. The result is a unique jewelry set that has earned international recognition and continues to inspire others in the field of design.
